The short version
This site exists to feed you dairy-free recipes, not to harvest your data. I collect anonymous analytics, plus whatever you choose to hand me yourself: an email address or a recipe rating. I don't sell any of it, and there are no ad trackers here today.
Analytics
I use Google Analytics 4 to see which recipes people read and which ones get ignored. Google processes your IP address and sets its own cookies to make that work. I never see your IP, just aggregate numbers like "this many people looked at the mac and cheese."
Newsletter
If you join the email list, your address is stored with MailerLite, the service that sends the emails. It gets used for recipe emails and nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing actually works.
Contact form
Anything you send through the contact form lands in my inbox so I can reply. That's the whole pipeline.
Ratings and reviews
When you rate a recipe or leave a review, here's what gets stored and what shows up:
- Your star rating, and your note and name if you write one. The name and note are shown publicly with the review.
- Your email, only if you choose to give it. It is never displayed and isn't used for anything today.
- I don't store your IP address. I store a scrambled, one-way fingerprint of it (a salted hash) that can't be reversed. Its only job is keeping spam and ballot-stuffing out.
- Your browser keeps a random ID in local storage so the site remembers you already rated something instead of nagging you again. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Cookies and local storage
The site itself doesn't set login cookies because there are no accounts. It keeps a few small preferences in your browser's local storage, like your theme choice and which recipes you've rated. Google Analytics sets its own cookies as described above.
Want something removed?
If you want a review taken down or your email wiped from the list, contact me and I'll take care of it.
